Please note there may be other reasons why KB5017389 fails to install. I solved my issue, but this thread may still hold value for users who have the same problem. I'm not willing to provide them for privacy reasons. A second PC had the same issue and when I uninstalled Malwarebytes Premium first the issue was solved. Update 2: I confirmed Malwarebytes being the culprit in my case. Running "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" Running the Windows Update troubleshooter I'm running under the built-in Administrator account, with ZoneAlarm Free firewall v. I tried manually downloading and installing the update from MS Update Catalog, but same error. Again taking 3 or 4 restarts to revert everything. Update installation reaches 96% and then it starts reverting. I'm on Windows 11 Pro 圆4 22H2 build 22621.521 and the update fails to install. After that, I confirmed the solution on a second PC. I spent many hours diagnosing it and I was able to resolve my issue by uninstalling Malwarebytes. I had an issue installing Windows Update KB5017389.
